Measutronics PD-10 Bracket

At Measutronics, I worked with a team of 8 to design and develop a way to mount Acuity Lasers to Vermeer PD-10 pile drivers for solar farm construction. I met with end users and worked in the field, seeing how early prototypes were being used, running stress tests on Solidworks, and talking to fabricators to get price estimates. I also got to design an elaborate drawing package for said bracket and write a user manual on best practices to ensure quality measurements and safe installation.

School Projects

Mech Lab Wind Tunnel

Over two semesters, three friends and I modeled, ran analyses, and printed a working wind tunnel. We built on existing components from previous years and made a new test section that improved wind velocity by 2 m/s and had removable side panels for ease of use with other teams.

On top of rebuilding the wind tunnel, our team was tasked with building a working force balance system that could output lift vs. angle of attack and drag vs. lift curves. These graphs had very similar trendlines to professional data of the same airfoil.

Five other teams across all sections of this class used our wind tunnel and noted how well-designed it was, including professors researching turbomachinery and C.F.D.

Mechatronics Robot Project

Using the 3d printed robots from a first-year course, in the Spring of 2024, three friends and I were tasked to model all possible positions of the robot grips in MATLAB, then code the robot to make it pick up a small basketball, move it up and over into a basket, and drop it into a hoop to score points. Using a proximity sensor, the machine would also count the number of goals it had scored and display this after 90 seconds by clamping its grips the number of times a goal had been made.

Skills and Design Catapult

In the Spring of 2022, three friends and I were tasked to build a catapult for Skills and Design II. We decided to challenge ourselves by making a creative design for a ballista. We hoped to make it wrist-mounted and portable. After going through the design pipeline and dealing with many iterations, we added mouse traps to act as the arms of the ballista. This enabled us to fire corks and even EXPO markers across the classroom.

Skills and Design Bridge

In the Fall of 2022, my friends and I constructed a paper bridge and demonstrated the power of sound engineering. After our initial calculations, we decided to make the adhesive job as perfect as possible, allowing us to get 9.122Kg of max weight instead of the desired 5Kg.
