Abryn Peters
About me
Hello and Welcome! I am Abryn Peters, a mechanical engineering student at Florida Polytechnic University, expected to graduate in 2025.
In my first couple of years at Poly, I was the head of the photography division in the media club. While working in this role, I had the opportunity to cover events such as Florida PolyCon and NerfTec’s annual Humans Vs. Zombies.
In Junior year, I stepped down from this position to become the Astronomy Club’s President, where we hosted solar eclipse watch parties, rocketry events, and ASTRO nights to look at the planets.
During my senior year, I was accepted into the Presidential Ambassadors program at Poly, which allowed me to gain more leadership and networking experience before leaving school.
As I look to the future, I see myself involved in design engineering. However, I would love to pivot and explore other fields using my mechanical engineering degree, as I enjoy having a diverse portfolio.
In the summer of 2023, I was asked to join Measutronics as a part of a design engineering internship. In this role, I could go onto job sites and talk to workers to see what they needed from the products I designed. I then took the market research I had done and successfully made a mount for an ACUITY laser system that allowed the user to measure the height of a pile from the ground using the Vermeer PD-10 Pile driver. This was very useful for solar construction operations, allowing even solar arrays to be built quickly without a large crew. I also designed a multidirectional rotational encoder mount for cranes to enable users to mount in 5 directions.
My previous work experience has mainly been in the restaurant industry. I have worked for By Design Catering as a lead server and team lead for BDC meals. This taught me how to delegate tasks to other team members while effectively managing time to meet deadlines. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities I have had as they have taught me excellent communication skills, marketing abilities, and leadership abilities used in the clubs and projects I take on today.
